L.A. Colors 3 color eyeshadows

Hello fellow makeup junkies,

Today I want to talk to you about L.A. Colors' 3 color eyeshadows. According to the website these are "A trio of long-wearing eyeshadows in one chic palette. Three expertly coordinated shades can be worn alone or together to create a array of looks. Complete with dual ended applicator." There are 12 trios in this range total & I currently have 4 of them. Here is a link to them from the L.A. Colors website:

I found mine at the Dollar Tree & Dollar General. At both locations I only paid $1.00 which is a good deal. The Dollar General does typically have a better selection of L.A. Colors in general so if you want to try these or anything else from the brand they are your best bet.

Now lets take a look at the ones that I have.

Top Left: Iris
Top Right:Orchid
Bottom Left: Water Lily
Bottom Right: Magnolia

Now here are photos of each trio swatched without primer:

 Iris
This is a good one to get if you are into purples. The top shade is a mid-tone purple with just the slightest bit of blue in it, the middle one is more of a pinkish purple, & the bottom one is a dusty purple & my favorite from this trio.

 Orchid
This is a nice netural trio. The top shade is a bronze, the middle a light golden yellowish, & the bottom is a beautiful baby pink.

 Water Lily
This trio remind me of a mermaid & I think would be really nice for summer. The top shade is an almost minty blue if that makes sense, the middle is a super pretty pink with a hint of purple in it almost giving it a lilac feel, & the bottom shade is a very light blue to the point that it almost look white with a hint of blue flash.

Magnolia
This is my favorite trio so far. The top is a gorgeous coral shade that the camera just doesn't give justice to, the middle is an almost electric purple, & the bottom is a very light pastel yellow which is a great inner corner highlight.

As you can see these aren't the most pigmented shadows out there but I think they are really pretty especially considering these are only $1.00. All of the colors are shimmery but there isn't any actual chunks of glitter in any of the ones that I have.

Now here are photos each trio swatched over Rimmel's Exaggerate Undercover Shadow Primer:

 Iris

Orchid

Water Lily

Magnolia

As you can see they do have a bit more color pay off with a primer. The Rimmel primer does have a "glow" to it which works for these since they are already shimmery.

Now here are swatches of each trio over Milani's Shadow Eyez in Champagne Toast (which is a nude shimmery shade & almost blends into my skin tone):

Iris

Orchid

Water Lily

Magnolia

I defiantly recommend using these with a colored based because as you can see they have much better pay off with one.

I would recommend picking these up. I really like them & plan on getting a few more the next time I go to the Dollar General of stumble upon the at my Dollar Tree. L.A. Colors is a brand that I have enjoyed for years. They can be a little hit & miss but overall I don't think that they get enough credit. Like most other drugstore type brands they have really stepped their game up recently with the quality of their products not just with the eye shadows.

My favorite thing about these shadows? They are cruelty free! The entire L.A. Colors company is. Yeah for no animals being harmed!

I hope that you enjoyed today's post. Have you tried these trios or anything else from L.A. Colors lately?

Makeup Besties For Fall 2013

Hello there. Today I want to share with you some thing that I'm excited to use for Fall.

Sonia Kashuk Perfecting Luminous Foundation (left): I love this foundation in general but especially in Fall. It's full coverage which I like for Fall because it helps cover my redness that occurs in Fall but it still remains to look fairly natural on the skin.
L'OREAL Magic Lumi Highlighter(upper middle): Bright under eyes are nice all year round but there is something about it in Fall. This product is also good for highlighting all over the face not just the under eyes.
ELF HD Lifting Concealer in Brightening (lower middle): This is surprisingly good. I honestly haven't had much luck with ELF's face products other than this one. I personally prefer to put this on after Primer & before Foundation. So far I have only used this on my under eyes so I'm not sure if it works as well on other places of the face.
L'OREAL Revitalift Miracle Blur (right): This stuff is great at filling in pores which is great for me because when I use a thicker foundation it settles into my pores much more than when I use a tinted moisturizer or a thin foundation.
Revlon Matte Blush in Perfectly Peach (top left): Peach blushes are great for fall & this is a great neutral, matte one that gives just the right amount of color. I really enjoy this line of blushes but sadly only this color & one more remain in the range, the rest have been discontinued.
Hard Candy Baked Blush in Pin Up (top right): Although this is called a blush it's really more of a highlighter. It's a great highlighter for fall though. It's also a peachy color & looks really pretty with the Revlon Perfectly Peach blush.
Revlon PhotoReady Bronzer (bottom left): I love contouring in fall & this is perfect for it. It is completely matte & the four different colors let you really tailor the color for how strong of a contour you want.
Benefit Watt's Up (bottom right): This is my absolute favorite highlighter ever! It is sooooooooo beautiful. It can be built up for a strong highlight which I like for a night out during Fall.

Wet N Wild 8-Pan Eyeshadow Palette in Comfort Zone (top left): I think that by this time everyone who is a beauty lover knows how freaking awesome Wet N Wild eyeshadows are so I won't go on about the great pigment & quality. This palette just screams Fall to me. My favorites within the palette are the top four especially the green in the top right corner. It's just perfect. My only complaint is that there isn't a matte crease color in it.
Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow in Sunbaked Neutrals (top right): This is pretty similar to the Wet N Wild one but this has a basically matte crease color, top row 2nd from the left. My favorites in this palette are the entire top row. I just can't narrow it down anymore than that.
Wet N Wild Trio in Knock On Wood (left 2nd row): I hear a lot of people talking about their trios in Walking On Eggshells & The Silent Treatment but hardly anyone talking about this one & I'm not sure why because these are great shades. They are great for someone who want to branch out from their regular neutral shades but they aren't ready to go too crazy yet. I like this for Fall because of the top & bottom shades. They are so great together & are very Fall-like.
ELF Brightening Eye Color in Luxe (right 2nd row): These little quads are only $1 & they are so nice. They are quite pigmented & the gold & burgundy shades are perfect for Fall.
Sonia Kashuk Monochrome Eye Quad in Textured Mauve (left 3rd row): I have a couple different quads in this range & overall I enjoy them. The only thing is that the four colors are basically the same color with a different finish. These look a bit darker in person than in the photo above & are more purple to me. That's fine with me though because I love purple shadow for Fall.
Maybelline EyeStudio Quad in Violet Femmes Limited Edition (right 3rd row): This quad is part of Maybelline's limited edition Fall collection so if you want it you should run out & get it while you can! As I just said purples are great for Fall. The middle two shadows are my favorite ones. The left middle one is a dusty lilac-ish color that is so pretty & the right middle one is a beautiful jewel toned purple that would look great with a smokey look.
ELF Studio Line Baked Eyeshadow in Moonlight Serenade (very bottom): This is a white-golden shade that is basically metallic. It is the best inner corner highlighter that I have ever used. It is quite dramatic which I really love.

Avon Mega Effects Mascara: I think that Fall is all about the big & long lashes with lots of mascara on them. This mascara does exactly that. I do think that it is a bit pricey but it is worth the try. I really like it.
Revlon Brow Fantasy: Fall is also always about the thick brows & this product really lets you achieve that look with the pencil side. Plus, it conveniently comes with it's own gel to set the brows.
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Rust: This color is perfect for Fall. I like to use this as liner on the upper lash line then set it with a similar colored shadow. You could also use this as a base all over the lid.
Revlon Grow Luscious Lashliner in Emerald: Jewel tones are always a staple for Fall & this liner is just that. This liner does have glitter in it so I wouldn't recommend that you use this for your waterline. It is however really pretty on the upper lash line. This is one of my favorite liners of all time.
Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Liner: To go with a bright undereye for a Fall look I like a bright water line as well & this pencil is great for that. I can get a good 3 or 4 hours before I need to reapply, which for me is really good because I super watery eyes.
ELF Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in hunter Green: I don't really agree with the whole waterproof statement but I do like this liner. Plus, it's $1 so you can't expect it to be perfect. I think to use this for a cat eye look. The dark green is a nice touch for Fall.

ELF Lip Exfoliater: Since a lot of people like to go for red &/or dark lips in the Fall it's a good idea to have exfoliated lips. I really like this one because it is cheaper than most other ones on the market. It is on $3. It also has a sweet, sugary taste & scent; probably because it has real sugar in it. My only complaint with this is that the stick itself broke the 2nd or 3rd time that I used it. It may have been my fault though. Perhaps I was pressing a bit too hard.

ELF Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Nude Pink: I don't think that I would consider this a "liquid lipstick" as the name implies. However, it is a great gloss. I really like this color for Fall because it pairs well with a nice smokey eye, a purple look, or a green look. It's fairly pigmented for a gloss but it isn't super opaque. The name "nude pink" is perfect for this because that's exactly what it is...a nude punk. It also has a nice minty scent that I really enjoy.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Super Natural: This gloss is great for basically the same reasons that the ELF on is only this gloss has less pink in it. This gloss is also a bit more opaque than the ELF which can be nice.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Berry Allure: I am in love with this gloss. It's perfect. This one isn't as opaque as the Super Natural but I'm okay with that because it gives more of a stained gloss look of you know what I mean. Let's just say, you need this in your life. This would be especially good for someone who wants to try darker wine colored lips but isn't ready for an actual lipstick.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush: This & Fall are basically soulmates. It's the perfect color & exactly what I think of when I think of a Fall lip. It's long lasting which is always a good thing but for me it doesn't always wear of flatteringly so I like to top it off with a color. The Revlon one in Berry Allure would actually pair quite nicely with it.
Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain in Sweet Pink: These are a fairly new product but I must say that they are quickly rising to the top of my list of all time favorites. The packaging is pretty much the same as the Revlon balm stain. I think that I might like this formula better though because it wears off evenly unlike the Revlon one tends to do. This color is the perfect pinkish nude color for Fall. I highly recommend this line.
Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee: I really like these lip butters in general & this color is the perfect tan-ish, beige-ish nude & it would pair well no matter what kind of eye makeup you had on.
Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum: This color is very simialr to the Balm Stain in Crush that is mentioned above. This one though is lighter & has a bit more pink in it to me. Since this one is a lip butter & not a stain it isn't going to be as long lasting but I personally don't mind reapplying it through out the day.
Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple: This is a somewhat bright red that I just adore. Like most of the other lip butters it can be sheered out or built up for a more opaque look. The color really does remind me of a candy apple which is great since they are one of my favorite Fall time treats.
Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Plumrose: This is another great line of lip products. The are long lasting without drying out the lips, they have a yummy sweet smell that reminds me of watermelon jolly ranchers, & they come in tons of different shades. This one is great for Fall because it is a purple color with just a hint of pink. It is absolutely beautiful. I feel like this shade really brightens up my complexion too which is always a good thing.

Well folks, that's all. I hope that you found this post helpful!
What are some of your favorite products for Fall?

Best of July 2013

Hello Everyone! I'm here today to share with you the products that I've been using the most this month.

This month the weather here in Atlanta has been a bit crazy. One day it will be super rainy & then the next it's ridiculously humid so I haven't been wearing makeup a lot & when I do it's been very little.

  Almay's CC Cream in light.
I'm not so sure about the CC Cream claim with this because to me it seems more like a tinted moisturizer that's a bit on the thicker side but not as thick as say an actual foundation.

Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun Light.
This is one of those products that I don't think I could live without. I've been using this with a big fluffy brush to set the CC Cream & some light contouring.

MAC Pearlmatte Face Powder in Pink Buttercream.
I have been like addicted to this thing. Highlighters in general are probably my favorite makeup products. I can't get enough of them. This one in particular is so pretty & can be quite natural looking or can be built up to a stronger highlight. I honestly don't think I have used any of my other highlighters this month.....and I have a lot. Haha.

Evian Facial Spray
This little beauty here is a life saver. It feels SOOOOOO good in this hot, humid weather here in the South. I like to spray it lightly on my face before my makeup & then throughout the day if I'm feeling really gross & hot. Face sprays like this are also nice if you have gone a bit too heavy with your face powders.

Revlon Colorstay Brow Enhancer in Blonde/Gold.
I don't really use the illuminateur side. Actually, I'm not sure that I've ever used it but the brow side is quite nice. It's a wax based pencil. It has a good amount of pigmentation & keeps my brows in place even in hot weather. The down side is that I got this during that big beauty sale that CVS has so I'm not sure if it's been discontinued or what the deal is because it was 75% off. I really hope that isn't the case though.

Sonia Kashuk Monochrome Eye Quad in Textured Rose.
This is a new edition to my makeup collection. As you can see I have already made a nice little dent in shade on the bottom right corner which, to me, is less of an eye shadow and more like pressed glitter...if that makes sense. While I do enjoy this quad it does have a couple cons. I personally don't think that there is enough of a difference in the shades to be able to create a complete look because you wouldn't be able to get any depth to the look. If you were just going for a one shadow look though this would be great. The next con is the price. As most if not all of you know Sonia Kashuk is sold only at Target so technically it's drugstore but it cost about $15.00 which to me is a bit much for a quad you can't even get a full look out of.

Sonia Kashuk Eye On Neutral Palette
I know that I've talked about this little guy quite a lot already but I just LOVE it. It's the perfect matte neutral palette in my book. I get so much use out of this no matter what type of look I'm going for. It's also perfect to pair with the quad above or any of her other quads.

Revlon Lash Potion in Blackest Black
I just pick this up about a week ago but I had to include it in this post. This is my new favorite mascara. I don't want to get ahead of myself here but I think that I may have found my holy grail mascara from the drugstore. It give volume & length, it doesn't clump my lashes, I haven't had an issue with what I call "raccoon eyes" even though this isn't the waterproof kind. It's just amazing. Plus, the tube is really pretty.

Well guys, that's all for now. What products were you reaching for the most during July?

The Rainbow Tag!

Hello again beauty friends!
Today I have for you another tag. This one has been going around for a bit now & looked like fun. For those of you who aren't familiar with this tag you simply go through the colors of the rainbow & pick your favorite thing that is that color. Let's get started...

Red:

NYX single eyeshadow in Cherry. This is on of my favorite eyeshadows in my collection. It's such a fun color. It does have a bit of pink in it so it isn't super red which may make it a bit more wearable for some people who are otherwise scared off by a red eyeshadow.

Orange:

For orange I chose my favorite scent at the moment which is Wild Peach Poppies from Bath & Body Works. This smells wonderful. To me it is a light, fresh peach with just a hint of some type of floral note. It just might be my favorite scent from Bath & Body Works ever...too bad it was limited edition! That seems to always happen to me, the scents that I really fall in love with aren't around for too long & sadly this little beauty has already sold out. :(

Yellow:

For yellow I have another little gem from Bath & Body Works for you. It's their PocketBac in Jungle Fruit. The scent for this one is just a generic fruity smell but what makes it special for me are the little elephants! I have loved elephants since I was a baby. I have pretty much elephant everything. So, when I saw these in the store I just HAD to have some. I bought about 10, haha. Yeah, I went a little crazy but they change these out so much I didn't want to miss out on them.

Green:

For green I have another on of my favorite eyeshadows to share with you. It's Envy from Wet N Wild. What I usually do with this shadow is line my lash line with a green or black eyeliner & then set that liner with this shadow. It makes my hazel eyes look more green, which is something I'm always up for. It can also be a beautiful lid or crease color. You can even do a one shadow look with it by putting it all over the lid then blending it out into your crease. All around it's just perfect.

Blue:

For blue I have this wonderful tinted lip balm from MAC in the color Glace. This was from their Baking Beauties Collection. As you can see in the swatch above it doesn't show up very blue on the lips. It has that yummy vanilla smell that all MAC lip products seem to have...I'm not complaining though. This is rather sticky so if you aren't a fan of sticky lip glosses then I would say pass on this one. Also, I don't get why it's called a "lip balm" because to me it seems more like just a regular gloss. Either way though, I still love it.

Indigo:

For indigo I decided to go with this polish from Wet N Wild. It's from their Megalast line & the color is called On A Trip. I love painting my toes this color in the Spring & Summer months. It's just so pretty. I have painted my finger nails with this before but to be honest on me I prefer it on my toes. I have it on right now...I wouldn't subject you to a photograph of my feet though, haha.

Violet:

For violet I had to go with this beautiful color in the center of this LA Colors trio. The trio is called Magnolia (which is happens to be my favorite flower) & this violet/purple shade in the middle is to die for. I've had this trio for a little over a month now & if I'm feeling a purple eye this has been my go to shadow. I just can't get enough of it. Plus, the other shades are gorgeous as well.

Pink:

So, with this color I had to cheat a little bit & go with two products. I just couldn't decide between the two! The first one is something relatively new from Sally Hansen called Colorfast Tint + Moisture Balm. Mine is in the shade In The Pink. As you can see from the photograph above it is a nice neutral pink that would go with pretty much any eye look. It has good staying power & when they say moisture, they mean it. It makes my lips so smooth & soft. It has a very slight vanilla-ish scent to it but I can barely smell it even when holding it up to my nose. The other one is yet another Wet N Wild product. Can you tell I like them? This is from their Fergie collection & it's called To Reflect Shimmer Palette in the color Rose Champagne Glow. This has become my favorite highlight from the drugstore of all time (so far). The swatch above is a bit heavy so that you can see the color better but sheered out on top of the cheeks bones it is beautiful. It isn't exactly what I would consider a "natural" looking highlight to be but that's one of the things that I love about it. I personally a strong highlight on the cheeks & cupid's bow.

Multi-Color:

Again I had to cheat with this one & go with two products. They are just both so good I had share both. The one on the left is from Avon's Mark line & is called touch & glow shimmer cream cubes. I've had this for about a year now & I still find myself reaching for it quite often. It can be used to highlight anywhere on the face or even under eyeshadows. I like to use it best as a highlighter. Although this is a cream product it isn't a soft cream, which I like. The three swatches on the left of my hand a random colors & as you can see they can be quite pigmented or sheered out. The product on the right is another treasure from MAC's Baking Beauties Collection. It's a Pearlmatte Face Powder in Pink Buttercream. This is swatched to the right of my hand. As you can see when all of the colors are swatched to together it makes a silvery, pink, slight blue-ish color. The powder itself is so smooth & silky. It's also really pretty in the pan. It's defiantly my favorite high end highlighter & probably my favorite MAC product. This can be very sheered out for a more natural looking highlight or can be built up a bit for more of a dramatic highlight. Either way you wear it gives a lovely effect on the cheeks, cupid, eyebrow...wherever.

Since highlighters kind of took over this tag, what's your favorite highlighter?

And as always,
Stay True & Stay You...
